- 1 tsp of yeast nutrient
- A half packet of yeast
- This will result in 5 bottles (750 ml) of tomato wine.
- Primary fermenter
- Stirring spoon
- Electric tomato juicer
- Damp muslin cloth
- 5 wine bottles
Methods of preparing step by step:
The preparation of tomato wine is a long process as it takes almost 100 days to properly complete the procedure. The method is started by sanitizing all the equipment and making them free of bacteria.
The process of making tomato wine is as follows:
After the sanitization of all the equipment, (spoon, fermenter, jug) allow them to dry.
Wash the tomatoes properly for smashing and peel off the bruised or rotten part.
Smash the tomatoes properly in a bowl with a spoon or electric tomato juicer to get the perfect tomato juice.
Add all the ingredients in the primary fermenter. The yeast will be added on the next process. Then add 1 gallon of water on the top and stir well with a spoon.
After proper stirring, allow the mixture to sit for 24 hours and it is not to be touched so that all the ingredients can settle at the bottom.
After 24 hours, add a half packet of yeast to the mixture and without stirring close the lid of the primary fermenter. Make sure the lid is fully airtight.
Preserve the fermenter in such a place where it can be away from too much heat, light, and humidity.
After 12 hours of preservation, stir the mixture with a sanitized spoon properly. Then close the air-tight lid again and preserve.
After 24 hours, you will see that the ingredients are floating on the top. Then using a sanitized spoon push the fruits down several times a day. This is one of the major parts of the fermentation process. Make sure the lid is airtight after the stirring is done.
After 5-7 days, there will be fewer bubbles and less floating layers. This means the mixture is ready to be strained. To strain all the contents, a damp cloth is placed on a funnel over three sanitized glass jar of half-gallon each. Pour all the mixture from the primary fermenter to the jars carefully one by one.
Then add 1 Campden tablet to each jar and fill the jar with water to fill up the wine bottle. After adding some vodka to the jars, preserve them in a dark and cold place.
Add an airlock in each jar to complete the fermentation process perfectly.
Finally, wait for 95 days after preserving to allow the wine to get a clearer appearance.
Take 5 bottles (750 ml) and after sanitizing properly fill each of them with wine using a tube from the preserved glass jar.
Cork the wine bottles properly to make them airtight.
Finally, the preparation of the tomato wine is completed. You can also preserve the prepared wines for 3 months to age them perfectly.
